My 10 year old cat appears to have completely disowned me over the past 2 weeks! She's always enjoyed being outside and generally stays on the patio but for the past 2 weeks she's been wandering off. I have been so worried and have been out looking and calling her but then she walks past the patio window every evening as though she's headed somewehere else so at least I know she's alive. When she wanders past i race to the door to try to grab her but she legs it. Last night she was sat down the road and i called her as i have always done but she didn't even turn round and react she just ran off. I'm worried she may have some sort of memory loss as this is completely out of character behaviour and nothing in her home environment has changed recently to upset her. Anyone got any ideas?

Perhaps a neighbour has started to feed her, thinking she's a stray?
Question Author
Yes, she's definitely getting fed somewhere else as she didn't look hungry when i saw her - will maybe put a poster up in the complex where i live asking for her to be returned. Stupid i know thinking she should have some loyalty to me after so long! Can't work cats out at all!
No, they're easy to work out - totally, utterly, slavishly loyal - to their stomachs.
But we love 'em !
Same thing happened to my neighbour her cat Frankie just moved in with a woman down the road, the woman felt bad about it but Frankie wouldn't come back. This happened just as my neighbour took in a stray kiitten so it was probably connected
Did you say something to upset her?

Seriously, that is sad. You've given her 10 years of love and care. It must be like a friend who's not talking to you anymore and you don't know why. One of my three cats went off for 24 hours. I was frantic. I think she was not feeling well and just wanted to be alone. She went off again the next day but has be back ever since.

Is it possible that an un-neutered tom has sprayed near your house? Even spayed female cats get upset about the smell of whole toms. My male kitten was just coming up to sexual maturity and this same female started to spit at him and hit him whenever he came near her. Since he's been castrated they are back to normal and playing together all day.

It's a thought. Have a good sniff.
