does anyone know how they make the tinned meat and if they make the meat under health and hygiene laws..... I will get to the point I am so annoyed i just opened a tin of meat as my fussy lot wont eat dry biscuits, And found the biggest cluster of maggot eggs there must have been 1/4 of a tin of maggots in there , and where in there when the lid was sealed...

I would take a photo of the tin and send this to the company and ask them to investigate further. If you still have the receipt perhaps you could include this in the photo?

Thar's awful I'd write to them too ! there must be some sort of regulation for animal foods. On the same subject does anyone buy As Good As it Looks sachets, fish flavour ? My cats have eaten this for ages, dry food mornings and sachets when I get in. For some reason they won't eat it now. The box has changed, but I'm sure they can't read !!! anyone else had a problem ?
I had to put my foot down this week as I have one cat that likes oh so fishy, another that only eats Tuna another that only eats biscuits, another that only eats chicken and the kittens will only eat kitten loaf they all hate cat food with jelly or gravy its costing me loads but i love them, The vets have just phoned me to see if i will foster a young male cat that was in a hit and run accident on monday, god knows what he likes to eat!!!!
The regulations for animal food is much the same for human food, so someone screwed up big time.
I must say I kicked off big time when I found what I thought was maggots in dog food and froze it to show my dog food supplier, luckily I showed my daughter beforehand and she said " Yuk!! that is so gross, look a bit like rice grains dont they" the penny dropped!! So glad I showed my daughter first, Lamb and rice kibble.

It is produced under very high standards of hygiene. If it weren't for the 'meat' that goes into it, it would be perfectly safe for human consumption. Even so, if I were starving and that's all there was, I'd have no hesitation in eating it!
You can seems to have been 'blown'. It very occasionally happens (and to human food too). Tinning is a very reliable way of preserving and distributing food. The maggots are very unlikely to have been in the can when it was made and sealed.
I'm sure if you contact the suppliers, they will be mortified and as well as apologising and recompensing you, you may well get some additional samples.

Oops Ratter15, that is the kind of mistake I would make!
Dummkopf, one of my cats likes fishy food and another prefers meat. But I do find that one week they will happily tuck into a certain brand and then the next they won't touch it and throw me disgusted looks for daring to put it in front of them! It may be that they get fed up of being given a certain flavour. I find that if I give the brand a break for a while and then re-introduce it, they suddenly start to like it again....for about a week...
josaphine32, can you let us know how you got on with your complaint?
Cheers Sue
