Daddy Long Legs

Every night for the last week or so lots of daddy long legs keep appearing in my room until I've either shooed them out or introduced them to the bottom of my shoe. I've never noticed this previously at this time of year. Anyone else having this same problem?

We have also had loads of Daddy Long Legs, I reckon it must be the time of year ....

Yes, this is the time of year when they do emerge. Open windows and lights attract them - so you know how to keep them out, although they are completely harmless and only live for a short time.

cheeky flies [ the ones that wind you up by landing on you all the time] start late in the summer and disappear when the daddy long legs come , so i think the flies are scared of them .

and ive also heard that daddy long legs carry poison that is deadly but they cannot bite you

Morning, hun! ;o)

I completely forgot and left my bedroom window open all evening whilst downstairs last night- when I went to bed it was like some sort of horror film! They were everywhere!

I hate killing them, but after spending 30 minutes throwing them out of the window, only for more to fly in, I had to! :o( It took me 2 hours to catch them in the end and there were 67 of them!

There is a record number around this year due to the right (for them) weather conditions, so keep all windows shut if long dangly legs and wobbly flight is not your thing.

The good news is that in a week or so they will all be gone...until this time next year.
