Cat wake up call - Question.

I have 3 gorgeous burmese cats who have the full roam of my house. At 6.25 every morning without fail the youngest (10 months) comes into my room (he sleeps downstairs in his basket) and paws my face gently until I get out of bed and feed him. The other 2 have never done this (both 2 years). Why is it the exact same time every day (annoyingly including weekends), even if I change their feeding pattern? I can shut the door to solve the problem but it breaks my heart to hear him singing/talking outside the bedroom door at night.

I don't mind it too much, but just wondered how come it's always the same time, it can't be the light as it was the same time in the spring and the summer.

Sorry - can't answer it however I can sympathise. I have 3 and every monting btween 5.45-6.15 one of them jumps on the bed and pummels me until I wake up and cuddle him/her. Eventually he/she settles down to a quiet purrrrr but by then I am wide awake. Hence I am up and getting the papers at 7am on a sunday!! Its just that like us they have a body alarm clock and as 6.30-7ish was the time I would usually get up and about they have set their alarm clock for 30 mins or so earlier so they can have a cuddle. When I eventually get up they all leg it to the bathroom and sit there whilst I ablute, if one of them is outside there is one hell of a scratching going on at the door. Its just habit - but lawd knows how you can break him of it. Be warned the other 2 will soon pick up on it and take over on his off days!!!!

Cats are creatures of habit, if you have fed them at a certain time every day they will expect to be fed at that time. It is very difficult to change this habit once they fall into a routine. The only thing I can suggest which has worked for me in the pass is to purchase a timing bowl. You fill the bowl with food, set the timer for when you want them to feed and they will wait by the bowl rather than pound on your bedroom door.

Glad I am not the only one, thanks Ali. I also have the same bathroom issue with mine, the youngest even stands on his back legs, front paws on the side of the bath and watches whilst I have a bath, ocasionally attacking some stray shampoo bubbles, or licking some water drops from the rim of the bath. If I don't let them in, I have the same singing and scratching behind the door.
Ketwills, I'll look into maybe getting a timing bowl, especially for weekends!! Thanks for the suggestion. Much appreciated.

Mines the same exept he sits on my pillow and dribb;es on me and purrs so loud I cant get back to sleep. Dont feed him til you get up mine stands at the top of the stairs and waits til were ready. LIttle ******. arent they cute.
