My first dog was an Old English sheepdog called Chummy.Have had lots of dogs since old Chummy ..also I once had a pet duck ..Joey ..he was as good as a guard dog ! My Dad used to breed budgies so we always had birds. Also had rabbits and chickens ,the kids had the usual hamsters, goldfish etc.Still own a dog but as I am getting rather crumbly now ..I fear he will be my last one :(
I had a budgy called Patsy when I was 8. He was quite a character and could talk. I also looked after a golden retriever for many years as the owners were often away. Lovely dog! Years later in my teens I had my first Irish Wolfhound and have been in love with this amazing breed ever since. I have also had a beautiful rescue St. Bernard, a lovely loyal Irish Setter and now have an intelligent little Shih-Tzu who is imense fun. Could write a book with all the anecdotes they have given me!
Always have had pets. My father bought me a pair of pigeons even before I was born, they lived with the bamtams and ducks and one of them lived for 12 years. We always had a dog or/and a cat for as long as I can remember. As for dog names, Patsy, Trekker and Limpy. Cats were Simba and Soot. We also always had tropical fish but I don't think we used to name them. Come to think of it now.... we never used to name the birds either, but cat/dog and even the odd weasel always got named.
Nawww, not got em now Carakeel, that menagerie is from when I was a kid. Me mum had a pen (not sure of correct term? bit of land, not an allotment, slightly bigger) and that's where we had most of them.
not on speaking terms with my 'lovely little girl' today, she's been a baggage all day long..........heh!, thanks for asking though, hope all is well with you and yours :-)
steenbrassie- sorry for going off on a bit of a tangent- I'll behave now!, honest!!!

We have always had dogs, a black scottie and a cairn terrier when I lived at home and then when I got married, we had a mad springer spanial, 2 huge mastiffs who were the most gentle creatures on this earth and we now have a little black pug who is more trouble than all the dogs put together but we wouldn't swap him for anything. As I type he is drapped across my husbands neck gazing lovingly into his ear !!!!
About 4 Labrador/Retrievers always called Pat, whether they were male or female. Quite a few ducklings and goslings who followed me everywhere, but seemed to disappear overnight....
A hamster called Geno. Numerous chicks, one white bull who sadly had to go to market. A piglet who I loved to distraction but still died on me.....
Lastly, was a kitten called Saxon who was half wild and refused to come out from behind our gas cooker......so cooker was dismantled and kitten went.....I don't know where....
