my dog keeps rubbing his fur off?
5 Answers
My Dog is quite long haired and he started rubbing his back on the carpet and if we let him outside on gravel till he has no fur left and his back is bleeding, we put teatree spray on it to stop it itching and hes left his back alone but will dig at his back legs, his bum underneath is now bold. we thought that when it got hot in the summer he started but its not hot any more and hes still digging.
Does anyone know y hes doing this or how to stop him from doing it.

Our vet put it down to diet and i needed to change over to a hypoallergenic food, it worked to a certain extent, But from time to time she has a flair up, I also use piriton tabs, and hibi scrub when she gets it bad,
Good luck

You need to see the vet - it could be any number of things, fleas being the most obvious.
If he is actually bleeding then he needs something NOW to stop the itching (possibly steroids) and possibly antibiotics to stop any infection which will almost certainly happen.
If you do not break the cycle of him digging and itching it may become habit forming (especially if he is getting your attention when he does it) then you have got a bigger problem.
The quickest and best way is I am afraid the vet. Good luck.
