To all the people that signed the petition to save his life i thank you. saxon has been given a pardon and will not be put to sleep he is to go to a experienced working dog handler and hopefully will live the rest of his days in a loving home. The down side is that gwent police have not allowed him to remain with the handler he has been with for the last four years and his family that is such a shame for all parties But the support that has been given from around the world for this wonderful dog im sure has saved his life
many thanks GypsyGSD x

I take it that he is getting early retirement with a lump sum and a pension.

It is a good outcome, but sad for his handler and family.
That is good news. I didn't think it was necessary to put a good dog down. I suppose the settlement was a compromise, which is why he doesn't stay with his current handler - they can't be seen to be losing too much face.

Thanks for alerting us to Saxon's predicament.
Thank you for posting this very welcome news, Gypsy, although as wolf says very sad for the handler and his family.

Glad he's saved but what a load of sh1te that they won't let him remain with his family. They couldn't just let the dog live where it's happy with people who love it.bloody morons.
I was thinking about Saxon last night and wondering if there was an outcome yet. So glad he's not being put to sleep, that would have been dreadful. As the others have said, pity he can't stay with his family.
Excellent news!!!
wonderfull news!!!! :-) I feel very sorry :-( for his police handler and family but they can still visit him i'm sure and they have the peace of mind in knowing that they saved the life of a wonderfull, intelligent dog. And we should all feel the same after all we all helped by signing the petition, BIG pat on the back to all that signed for a job well done :-)
So glad Saxon is now saved, but I feel the same way as nox on this! Not adequate thanks for a life in service of protecting the public for this wonderful dog!
wonderful news i totally agree with noxlumus through
Please read the details of the assessment. This dog was and never will be suitable to be a pet. He can only be rehomed to an experienced dog handler.

It is good that he has had another chance in life, sadly that wuld not have been the case with his previous handler, as he would only have been in a home situation, and not a working one.

For details look on the site of the assessors www.a1k9.uk

I agree with lankeela saxon could never be put in a family home he has come across as a very strong alpha male after i read the assesment last night i felt it had to be posted,i thought it fair to all partys, it did make a few points about the police force who own him and i hope they take on bored the advice given as in training , updateing records, etc that seems to be lacking and does cause some doubt about there methods, i felt the accessment that was given to by k1a9 to be very fair saxon has defenatly been given a chance of life .which at the end of the day is what everyone who supported his cause wanted
