Hi peggy, you could but who would want to. Generally it is not a good idea to eat an animal that's ill. Dont think it would taste very nice although it would'nt killk you. cheers skylight
I agree, a diseased rabbit is Not good to eat YUK YUK!!
You can't catch the mixy, no, but I wouldn't really advise it. The bunny may have other, secondary, infections, as well.
If your friend had ever seen the inside of a rabbit afflicted with this disease he wouldn't even be asking this question.

I remember seeing one as a child and the memory still makes me shudder and feel sick!

Mixi is transmitted by a flea. Te flea tends to be carried by carrion eaters from one place to another...... crows, buzzards, foxes etc. As they feed on the carcass the flea hitches a ride. This is why mixi can suddenly flare up in a previously unaffected area.
Mixi does not affect the carrion eaters so yes, in theory you could eat the carcass... though god only knows why you might want to!!
I can't understand why anyone would want to eat a rabbit anyway, with or without mixi (vegetarian, you see).
Yes you can eat a Mixi rabbit no problem!! however most mixi rabbits are very thin and very little meat on them. I love rabbit and have eaten hundreds of them but I could not eat a mixi rabbit!!!
Saanen, because some people find that rabbit tastes nice? I've personally never tried it, but that's just because I've never had the opportunity to - not because I don't think they should be eaten!
Rabbit is very much like chicken, a stronger flavour though, best left to soak overnight for a more delicate flavour.

Great in a pie or a stew!! my mouth is watering now, lol
