name of shrub

Can anyone help with the name of an Evergreen shrub with prickly leaves and clusters of small yellow flowers? It's the last solution I need in the Sunday Express General Knowledge crossword. I think it might be 'Alhenna' I have A?H?N?A - but that has white flowers! Thanks 'd'

Have a re-think on the A at the beginning deanna, because the shrub is Mahonia - pricky leaves with yellow flowers.

hi Cetti - thanks for your prompt reply, however if this is correct I must have Unit of length equal to 1000th of an inch used to measure diameter of wire etc. wrong. I had 'Awl' - hence the A
