sounds like a trip to the vet....
maybe it has diabetes if it drinks alot - just saying maybe!
Is she on a dry food ?
you most certainly need to get her to the vet,if you have just taken her in,am i to assume it is from a shelter...if it is then they should of told you or at least had an idea of her and any problems she has.A huge craveing for water could be anything, without alarming you ..........you really should seek your vets advice.Regards.
A vets visit would be a good idea any way just to check her out.

Could be many things, she could even have had her water intake restricted before so she is making the most of it.

The vet may want to do tests, to rule out diabetes, or kidney problems.
This seems a good web site for dogs:

If you can it would be a good idea to get a urine sample to take to the vets with you.

Sometimes if they have been in kennels they often knock over the water (or 'play' with it!!!) and so restrict themselves to only having water when it is refilled!

Also it would be a good idea to get the vet to give her a full, general check over while she is there.

Good luck with her.
when I first got my girl she would drink and drink non stop. If I put a bucket down she would've drunk until it was all gone and then go and be sick after.
I took her to the vets with a urine sample where we discovered she had Struvite Crystals in her urine. Antibiotics and some specially prescribed food soon sorted it out. So please go and see your vet with a urine sample asap
