Forced to eat
13 Answers
I was in Marks & Sparks today {food shopping} and i noticed they were selling diced carrots.
My question is,
Many moons ago when my Mum was having another Baby {7 in total} because my Dad was working all the hours under the sun to make ends meet, me and my brothers were put into some kind of care home {whilst my mum was in hospital} i always remember some miserable old bag at this care home who was adament that we all ate our dinner before we could leave the table,well all my brothers ate their dinner, but i could'nt eat the ''DICED CARROTS'' they made me want to throw up, so Mrs Butch made me sit there until i ate it, well when she popped out the room for 5 mintues i scopped them under the fridge, and when she re-entered the room, i made out i was on my last mouthful {as if i was chewing a wasp}
Have you ever been Told that you have to eat anything before leaving the table, or have you ever ate anything just to be socialble when in reality you hated it
Thank

When I was small, i loved carrots and ate them out of the saucepan before my mum had even dished them up. Then one day at school, some nasty old witch of a dinner lady refused to let me leave the table until I had eaten the vile carrots on my school dinner.
I haven't touched them since and it makes me gag to even think about eating them!

My father used to never let me leave the table after Sunday lunch until I had eaten my vegetables, even thought they made me gag. So one day I had this brainwave - I shoved them all in my mouth, pretended to have a little sneeze and spat them into my serviette.
Then when I was excused I went to the toilet to flush them away, Brilliant - until my mum went into the loo straight after me and found a selection of carrots and cabbage floating.God did I get told off!

Hi laurence,
That should never happen, but I had it as well, mine was,
Hot fatty ham, butter beans, lumpy mashed potato and gravy like hot water, I was made to eat it, but every time the teacher looked away, I took it out of my mouth and threw it under the table, it still makes me feel sick, at the thought of it.

I remember as a young boy my mum had cooked a meal and it included some foul looking brown cabbage that was tied in a ball with string. It was disgusting. Around the table sat my older brother and sister and we weren't allowed to get up till we had finish what was on our plates. When Mum left the room we put a good portion in the coke boiler which made a mega hissing sound but I was the last one to finish as they disapeared. Some years later they told me that they would distract me and would pile a potion on to my plate. NICE!
lol laurence your question brought a smile to my face
I was a very fussy eater as a child , and knew all the tricks My particular nemesis was and still is peas
I used to squash them down on the underside of the plate (between the plate and table/tray) or put them in my mouth then spit them down the loo, put them in my pockets (if i knew a dinner with peas was coming up i used to wear pocketed things) and more. Incidentally, we used to have the same things on the same nights ie monday mince and onions, tuesaday pork chops etc etc. Does anyon still do that?

I used to like school dinners..it was never a problem getting me to eat most things, but on Fish Pie day....bluerrrgh. And to make it worse, in those days we had the upper year kids as servers ~ so if you asked for 'small' they would give you a big plate full knowing full well you didn't like it...if you decided to try & call their bluff and ask for big they would give you big *sigh*
Who invented cod fish pie?????

In primary school we had the old fashioned school dinners- it was the 70s- and on one of the days we would have something with mashed swede. I COULD not eat it, and the dinner ladies used to make us. So I would scoop it in my hand and throw it on the floor under the table. I imagine that every single table had swede under it!!
I remember at my infants school on one particular day we had salad, I managed to eat the boiled egg lettuce etc but when it came to the beetroot (yuck!) I decided to entertain my fellow pupils by painting my face with a piece of it like an indian brave, unfortunately I was spotted by the wicked old bat who made me stand in the corner of the room for the rest of the dinner time, suited me just fine! I think it was tapioca for afters, I did'nt want to eat that frog spawn either.
I love round carrots but can't eat carrot sticks lol :)
I remember being forced to eat everything before I left the table. We used to get told off for laughing too. Remember getting banned from the dinner table once for it.
Remember a girl who refused to eat her dinner one and was dragged upstairs by the deputy hair by her hair screaming!!!
