how can i tell if my cat has been castrated?
7 Answers
Rescued a cat about 5 months ago and he went for castration before he came to me. I took him to the vets a week later for his injections and was told he still has his bits and i need to look into having him done!? I was baffled. I have been told that he has been done and my vet was wrong. I have since rehomed another cat who is now on heat and awaiting his spaying day and i am slightly worried about whats going to happen!!!
So how can you tell that he has been done?

Bit confused about your second cat, if its a 'he' he won't be on heat (only female cats come on heat) and if it is a female and is indeed on heat then your first cat will not only mate her, but will probably start spraying (i.e. weeing) everywhere to mark his territory.

when I got my rescue dog he was terrified and kept pulling his 'bits' up into his abdomen. When he was alone with me he had his tackle, but everybody else scared him so they disappeared. The vet examined him fully and we had his castrated successfuly.
If a boy cat still had his b**ls they will be pretty obvious. Sort of ugly, dangly things.

Yes i rang them and they checked their records, i dont doubt them to be honest. My male cat doesnt want anything to do with her and i have had a feel for anything that shouldnt be around and i cant feel anything!
I think things are ok, but the noise the female is making is doing my head in and its only been 2 days!

I think its very likely that your male cat has been nuetered.
The fact that he has no visible balls (though he should have 2 tiny empty ball sacks where they used to be),also all the rescue centres that I have been involved with would never re-home a cat without having it spayed or nuetered first. But probably the biggest giveaway is that your female cat is on heat (and no doubt driving you mad) and the male cat isnt interested in the slightest.
