My 1 year old staffy is due in season any day now - she has been off her food for a couple of days and seems really lethargic which is not like her at all. Is it because her season is due or should I be worried.

I would get her checked by a vet as soon as possible, tonight or tomorrow at the latest.

There is a condition called a pyometra which can be life threatening, it is basically where the womb becomes infected, it can be cleared up with antibiotics if caught early.

If she starts vomiting then I would treat it as an emergency and ring your vet even if they are 'out of hours'. Sometimes they have to spay them immediately.
I agree with kita 1 get her to the vets.a.s.a.p

Thanks both of you - I'll make an appointment this morning - she hasn't been sick and she did eat some rice and chicken last night, but better to be safe than sorry.
Any news?

Yes thank you everyone - she's had a thorough check over and there isn't anything to worry about. The vet said sometimes young dogs do suffer quite a lot when they come into season. I'm just administering lots of TLC (even thought of providing a hot water bottle) and she's eating chicken because she doesn't seem to fancy anything else. I don't think I treat my kids so well!!!!!
Thats good news. Just wait till you try to get her back on dog food!

Please take extra care while she is in season, as bitches can be as determined as dogs to get out and find a mate, and with so many Staffs and Staff crosses in rescue I am sure you won't want to add to them.
