Well lets just hope that they don't have the mentality of a pit bull or you could end up with a pair of dogs taking chunks out of people.
I accept that the Lab input could have a steadying input on the mix but I wouldn't have touched them with a 10 ft barge pole, and believe me I know the breed and we have all seen what they can do, and don't think for one minute that just because they look so cute they wont turn in to some unbalanced monster.

I don't know what possessed you to buy such dogs after all the recent press, I suppose you think yours will be different, just like all the other pit bull cross owners just after they have ripped some toddler to pieces. I just hope you are a highly experienced dog trainer with a lot of experience of the pit bull breed and I pray you have no children in the house.

And please don't say its the way the dogs are brought up!! with most other dogs I would agree, but not anything with pit bull in it, killing is in the genes!!!

I know I will get a slating for this by a load of people who suffer from the fluffy puppy syndrome but hey, we are all entitled to our opinion, but I know what I am talking about!!
Agree with everything you say Ratter, but I do suspect this post is from someone in the States, where they seem to accept Pit Bulls and crosses with them as the norm.

In case you are from the States Cami, this outburst from us is because a child has very recently been killed by a Pit Bull in the UK and there is a purge of them over here at present, as they are banned in this country, and most of the people who own them keep them for dog fighting.
Hi, have to agree with everything Ratter says [Morning Ratter], but I would like to add....Why did you buy two? It can be hard enough to train one dog, but two!!!! Also having two of them they will form a bond, it's called pack mentallity and God help you if the Lab influence in their 'cross' doesn't kick in. When you give a pup a home it immeadiately seeks and learns it's place in your family [pack] and will at times try it's luck at moving up the pecking order, it is bad enough when a 'safe' breed does this [I own Yorkies and a Great Dane and when the Yorkies fight....they FIGHT], How will you cope when your bundles of fun reach adolesence and try their luck? These are going to be big powerful dogs! I am assuming you are not an experienced dog owner as you are asking for the basics of dog training, so I suggest you get down to the library and get out a good book on dogs....the one you should have read BEFORE you bought a dog.
Sorry if this sounds harsh...and good luck.

Lankeela's post wasn't there when I posted, but I stand by what I said..... or are American Pitballs considered safer? I have known only one Pitball and he was as soft as anything with humans, but show him a dog and he would rip it to bits given the chance.

I would be interested to know where you are from too Cami.

Hi Lisa, the American pit bull is the same dog as the pit bull as we have here, they have problems over there as well, but they seem more tolerant of them, a bit like their gun culture I suppose!!
Hi, should have worded that better, I know that the American Pitbull and the Pitbull we have here are one and the same, what I meant was are the dogs found here generally more aggressive....having been bred that way....for fighting, generally 'not very well bought up' and owned by chavs....lol. I think you've hit the nail on the head when you mention tolerence. The Pittbull that I knew was a loved and cared for pet, this is going back before the time when Pits and Staffies were a status symbol of the thug culture, but even so it was his nature to attack.......shame really...... beautiful animal.
