goldfish with whitespot

Hi, we set up a cold water aquarium fairly recently and all but one of the five fish are perfectly healthy. Jaws (a shubunkin) has whitespot all over his tail, he still eats and is very active.

We've been treating the whole tank with Interpet's whitespot treatment every 4 days for about a fortnight and jaws seems to start looking better and then get worse again.

Does any one have any other suggestions? the water quality is fine and we do regular partial water changes.

Might be better to change the treatment....try another brand of whitespot treatment.


WS is generally caused by stress.....either poor water conditions, poor food (causing a poor imune system), or the fish being moved from tank to tank a lot.

Feed the fish well....little and often is always a good idea and try some different food eg if you're feeding flake, try adding some small, high protein pellets a couple of times a week and maybe a couple of cubes of frozen bloodworm (defrosted first).
