Worming Cats
11 Answers
It's an absolute nightmare trying to worm my two cats. I've tried every way going, to get tablets down them, but it's impossible. Does anyone make worming drops (for all types of worm)? Thank you.

You apply it in drop form to the back of the cats neck and the flea treatment lasts for a month - not sure how long the worming treatment lasts. It's quite pricey though (around 25 for three applications) and you have to get it from the vets.

Nicola Jane - I'm sure you can get the same stuff in France for far less. For my Moggy, I used to either coat the pill in either butter or soft cheese wrap her in a towel so she couldn't struggle & claw me, only head showing, prise her jaws open whop the pill in and hold onto her till it was gone. If you give her a treat afterwards they won't hate you for ever!! Good Luck

The best worming tablet to use is Drontal (only available from vets). You should only need half a tablet per treatment. Those available in pet shops, supermarkets etc. aren't very effective and don't kill all the worms. They also tend to involve the cats taking several tablets over a period of weeks, depending on which you use. If you really can't get the tablets down your cats the vet should be able to do it, showing you a good technique.
Drontal is very bitter and wouldn't be acceptable in food - it makes the cats drool a lot as soon as they taste it. It is a very good and thorough wormer, however.
