normally no. they tend to eat nuts as a specialty. but like many rodents they will eat almost anything if they are hungry, normally in spring.
You didn't say whether the Q was for Red or Grey Squirrels, so I've found a bit about both, although nowhere does it say that worms are eaten....perhaps as has been said if nothing else is available.....

They feed on a variety of nuts, seeds, bark, berries, fungi and occasionally eggs, young birds and insects. Pine seeds are important to the Reds and Beech mast to the Greys.
