pins and needles in left side of the hand why
9 Answers
Hi hope you can help me here, for about the last 6 months or so I have had a pins and needles sensation in my left hand in the little finger and just below it in the hand, it is not that bad but just annoying and am now wondering if it will ever clear up.
Of course I have been to my doctor but he is the type that says oh it is just your age (jeese am only 50 and pretty fit) and he says there is nothing you can do about it but surely there must be, also I have spondulitus (I know you dont spell it like that but excuse me) of the neck but not to bad though and the doc blames it onto that have been for a kneck x ray recently.
Maybe its a trapped nerve in the spine as about a year ago I had quite a painfull back prob that took a while to sort itselfe out (oh god it does sound like I am getting old dont it) but have always been very fit and active and still am now.
So my quist is to you all is my doctor wrong as I think he is about 125 years old and have any of you had the pins and needles sensation and have got rid of it .
Could it be bad blood circulation.
Could it be casued by vibration over the years as I am an electrician and have used many tools that vibrate (no dodgy answers here please folkes).
Or could it be by the fact of me kneck and me spine.
And I thank you for all your answers

I had this a while back in my left hand .I have osteoarthritis in the neck and spine and the arthritic growth on the bone presses on a nerve. It recurs from time to time but the physiotherapist gave me exercises to do which help. The Xray will show if anything is wrong and physio will help sort it out.

Go back and insist you get some physio for it. You pay your NHS like we all do.If not get a second opinion.
.Basically I was told to sit or stand up straight. Bad posture is not on !! ..Lol..like being back at school .Then keeping your neck as straight as possible stretch it as far as you can to the right then the left towards your shoulder .Repeat five times .Hold your arm down straight and push your hand up and back as hard as you can....as if you are pretending to be a duck ! Keeping your arm like that raise it level to your shoulder and then do the neck thing again ..right arm up stretch neck to left and vice versa .Do that five times .Twice a day you do this and you should find it eases. What you are doing in effect is tightening the tendons.
Hope you soon feel better...nag the doctor.

Hello Knobbynonuts
This may seem like something a little to simple.. but are you sleep with your arms all bent and your wrist bent? If so your cutting off your circulation to your hands causing pins and needles.... Its simple but it happens to a lot of people who sleep in the fetal position with there wrist bent. In more cases it happens to people who sleep like this with low blood presure.
Hope I could help
