I am not saying it isnt diabetes but there doesnt seem to be a test for epilepsy it seems to be something that they diagnose by default. Keep a diary of when these episodes happen. Include when exersize was, food, etc as they can affect diabetes. There may be a pattern or may not. I assume the vet has done some blood/urine sugar tests for diabetes. If it is epilepsy they respond well to drugs my old boy has had it since he was a pup and is fine with meds.My mate had a diabetic dog too and he lived to a ripe old age. Good luck .
