adopting a cat/s part 2
8 Answers
After reading all your advice... my partne and I went to the blue cross and have come home with 2 cats -
Chester 4 years old very lively and Molly 2 and a half, and very shy. She likes being fussed and groomed, but is hiding under cover under blankets, cupboards etc. Any advice to tempt her out (apart from of course giving them time!)
All advice welcome - thanks (from a happy cheeky!)

I'm afraid that time is the usual answer but if you fuss her as much as possible and make sure that she knows where her food, litter tray etc. are she will soon come round. Also as she is only young still perhaps you could have some toys and maybe spend time playing just with her until she gets a bit braver. Good luck with them both
Before long you will be typing a message into the answerbank with a cat trying to sit on the keyboard. It only took my two a couple of days to settle in. It took me longer to adapt.
My two run around during the night fighting and playing some really noisy game with hissing involved.
Enjoy your new family.

yes they had been homed together before and hence came as a pair. Chester has settled in well, but pays no attention to Molly at all!
Molly is now hiding behind the TV, each morning my partner and I are playing 'where's Molly?' she is very loving and like you've all suggested I think its just time needed!
Thanks for all your replies

You can buy a gadget that you plug in and it emits a soothing vapours (not sure if that is the correct description) but it has a calming effect on cats your vet might no what it is or someone on here might a couple of people i know have used it and it is really good especially for settling in to a new environment.
How are things going?
I have two - brother and sister aged about 2. They run around beating the cr*p out each other all day. They are great. They have only been here two months and they are great to have around the house.
Like yours my tom (Frankie) is a laid back surfer dude kinda guy. His sister Merlin is a prima dona princess with long hair.
They were born feral but are big, healthy sturdy cats. I love them to death (when I don't feel like strangling them that is).
I hope you all have a happy and eventful life.

well so far so good
We let Chester out yesterday and we went out for a bit and came back after 30 mins or so (I was so worried) Molly is coming more and more out of her shell, and ventured slowly out of the door to the end of the patio, then bolted back in - me thinks she likes it in doors best.
We're loving having them, and feel we made the best choice!!
thanks to everyone for all your advice!
