which birds song is this??
3 Answers
Hello,
I wonder if anyone could help me identify this particular bird song which I have heard over the last few days.
Ii's a loud kind of wolf whistle (the start of it) and is much louder then any other bird song i've heard.
Also I have just purchased a nyger seed feeder which has (to my knowledge ) only attracted 1 goldfinch and the other finches (green and bull) don't tend to go on it. I have the feeder on a pole in the centre of the garden - could this be the problem??
In advance thank-you for your time......

As for goldfinches and nyger seed. We started feeding with this just over a year ago and in that time, I have never seen anything else feed on it except goldfinches. We started out with an occasional appearance from one goldfinch for a few weeks- we now have regular groups of up to 15 birds feeding from the two nyger feeders and the seeds dropped on the gound. Persevere, it'll be worth it.

Would it be the Song Thrush, britannia?
They have been very vocal in the last few months and have a very strong and far reaching song. Most of the phrases are repeated two or three times. The second phrase on the link below does sound a bit like a wolf whistle:
