He had EXTREMELY good innings as he was about 19 years old...
I felt a bit guilty because she always thought i hated him (i'm not a cat fan...) but even i thought he was quite cute.
Anyway, went for dinner with the girls yesterday in good ol' Nanditos and it was very awkward! My friend that lost her cat was so depressed, we all said "sorry to hear about your cat..." but sometimes i felt like laughing (because i'm stupid like that!).
Anyway RIP Dillan i didnt really hate you.
So who on AB has love and lost a precious pet? (Dogs i can understand but Cats dont do anything anyway...)
Hi Nat, cats are just a bit scardier than dogs, apart from that they are nice, although I do prefer dogs! I find it quite amusing that you were tempted to laugh about it. Why don't you name you kid Dylan by way of a tribute for being so mean?
I posted recently about my adopted moggie, Sonny..I had him put to sleep after a year of owning him. He was about 17, although the first visit at the vet after we got him suggested he was 6! he was in lovely condition, but his kidneys packed up quite suddenly.
It has been over a month since his passing..I still miss him like crazy and still feel like weeping every now & then. We are getting kittens at the weekend to fill the gap he has left.
Had a dog when I was 2 till 17. Called Ben..he was a mongral beared collie type. Had to say bye to him when he had anal cancer & dad took him to the vets. But that was ohhh...20 years or so ago now. Just had a heated debate with Mr Roach..he wants a spaniel. I say NO WAY. meany I am. Done the dog thing. also hubby had a spaniel for 2 years before i met him which got ran over too.
We both had our cat Marley run over outside our old house he wa 1 1/2 years old. & have Ziggy now for 8 years & love her to bits.
I had my beloved Lord Vader put to sleep last year,he had cancer and it was unbearable to see him so ill.I`ve got two new kittys but they will never replace him,i`d had him for 17 years after finding him in a bin,i still miss his company.
I hate wasting food. I think you should feed the dead cat to a herd of hungry dogs.
I can't keep a lawn alive, let alone pets. That's probably the reason why I haven't been blessed with motherhood. Did you ever hear the story of my goldfish?
(Q: what do you call a fish with no eyes?
A: a fsh!)
And if you ever accidentally kill a friend's pet, here's a great tip on how to go about breaking the news:-
Do you know if it's definately going to be a girl Nat? If so you could call it Delilah instead of Dylan. I think either spelling is correct but the one I used was the one Bob Dylan uses and I like words that have a y in them.
I lost my Goldfish a couple of weeks ago (sorry, we never got round to naming him, well he was only a fish) i cant relay the story though cause it is just too painful to bear! I will say this though, he was murdered!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had my pet ferret put to sleep a couple of months ago as he was old and his body was slowly giving up. I got him as a rescue ferret and we had him for over 6 years. I had to ask my husband to take him to the vets as I just couldn't go through with it and my God when I kissed him goodbye a flood of tears just came out (welling up now as I type). I told my husband to ring me if he was that ill that he had to be put to sleep (guess I was hoping that there was still something that could be done for him) as I wanted to be forewarned before he came home. Anyway he rang and I just sobbed my heart out! I haven't cried like that since my Dad died!!! I don't know where it all came from but I guess he touched my life a lot more than I gave him credit for.
I think its a bit harsh to say you dont likethe evilness of them when they are older! Not all cats are the same ya know!
I have 6 of the most gorgeous, friendly and loving cats I have ever known! Not one bad bone in any of them, they love cuddles more then anything :)
And I have my tiny little Cefa who is now 10 weeks old and more evil then the adult cats, but she is allowed to be!
aaarrggh! ....did anybody read what champagne wrote??? hope you are joking girl(?)!!! we are all pet-lovers here. I had my beloved mutt Bramble put to sleep 2 yrs ago-she was 15+ and was deaf, blind and arthiritic...poor old dear died in my arms. 2 months after that my equally old moggy Mitsy died suddenly of kidney failure...I miss them both. It took a while before I was able to get another cat...can't live without them...will be a 70yr old cat woman 1 day!!!
PS to NAT..84 not all cats are mean or tempermental.....many are quite silly and soppy and they each have thier own character...I think a lot depends on how they are treated. My new adoptee was quite a fiesty madamn when I got her a year ago but she has mellowed considerably
i had a cat and it died when i was ten ! i cried for 2 days !! i wouldnt have been able to go out the same day ! your friends very brave ! your just either a cat person or your not......
