Cat bringing in live mice
I have a really cute cat who either thinks I am a useless hunter, or loves me so much and wants to say thanks by bringing home live mice. I have a flap that needs a magnet on the cats collar (a must to keep unwanted toms from getting in and sprayin). I know if I can get a bell for her collar also this may reduce the amount of wildlife she can catch. However every bell I can get my hands on sticks to the magnet she has to wear on the collar to allow her access to the flap. I know of the collars that beep when they pounce but this is so bulky for such a small cat and the collars they come on are not really cat friendly i.e., they should have elastic or snap off should they get caught on something and those collars don't. Anyone got any othe ideas? (apart from keeping her indoors).

I have 2 cats and they both have 24hr access through the cat door. The younger cat is always bringing in mice, frogs, rats and the odd baby wild rabbit. I just get up when I hear the thump, thump as he chases whatever around the kitchen and put it outside, then lock the door.
Other than locking the door every night (most hunting is done at night) and keeping the cat inside, I think it's just a part of living with the darlings.....

I'm afraid I don't have an answer for you as my cat does the same thing. We recently moved house from a town property to the countryside and my cat, Smudge, is in heaven. He has never even seen this much wildlife and is trying to catch everything he sees. We have had mice (alive and dead), birds and rabbits all brought home as a present of love for us! We have tried all kinds of collars with bells on but none work, he manages to get out of them all and leave them chewed somewhere in the garden! I don't have a cat flap as it is easier for me to let him out and then shut the door so when he does bring things back, at least they can't be brought in the house. He has learnt to come to the patio windows when he is ready to come back in and I think this is the most trained he'll ever be but it's ok, as horrible as it is to see, it's nature and I love him no matter!
