Hi,
I'm importing two puppies through Manchester Airport, has anyone any experience of bringing dogs in this way? They are coming from Poland.
Have the theoretical information just looking for practical experiences

I collected one last December with a friend. You have to head for the cargo centre, and the pets on jets offices are the last building at the end. They have a small reception area, and the dogs will come through around 30 - 60 minutes after landing, as they have to have their chip tested to ensure it matches up with the passport. They are very friendly and helpful, and they even called us up to tell us the dog was on its way, ours was coming fron Denmark. You say puppies, so will they be going straight into quarantine? Just being nosey, what breed are they?

They will be about 9 months old, coming through on th pet passport scheme. They are Bavarian Mountain Hounds. I can email pics if you want, they are gorgeous.
Whats wrong with all the puppies in rescue centres in the UK?
that would be cool if you can put a link for some photos. horsestache1 - I understand where you are coming from, but if you want a specific type of dog for a specific purpose, you want to get the best breeding you can, and that may mean going abroad if you are prepared to wait until the 'puppy' is 9 months old. I am thinking of doing it again, just waiting for litter to be born, but this time we are driving to Denmark to fetch it. Someone I know bought one from Belgium last year, and took it straight to quarantine kennels closeby where they live, so they were able to visit it every day, which was nice. He has now just come out of quarantine, and won the challenge certificate at Windsor Championship show.

horstache - I have shared my life with many rescue dogs and have also helped out at various rescue kennels in my time.
However on this occassion I need specific working dogs for a specific reason and I'm afraid a recue dog won't do.
amonty-that's not a breed I am familiar with, so I would love to see photos!

No experience personally of importing pups, but a friend's partner got one from America earlier this year. Sounded pretty much like jules' experience. It was professional and well-managed, and pup arrived safe and well.

Good luck, and a big hug for each of your pups when they arrive :)

oh how cute, is that the breeder where your puppies are from? I was looking at a nice puppy from Russia, but didnt want to put a young dog on a flight for so long, whereas with Denmark we can drive and fetch it when it is nine months old. When do you have puppies, is it soon?
Question Author
That is one of the breeders, I'm getting two unrelated bitches, still looking for an unrelated dog.
I'm hoping to be able to collect them late Novemeber, all being well
