How can we prevent the possibility of cats crapping in a newly-to-be-constructed Boule Petanque pitch?

Hey cats!!! They are building us our very own giant cat litter tray, complete with kitty litter!!! Yea! Way to go!

sprinkle a load of pepper on the pitch and watch the cats sneeze and scarper. its an old wives tale but it worked in my garden (if thats any consalation)

Pepper works, but it has to be redone after rain. I'm afraid the only way is to make a removable wire cover, a big job but if done properly it will last for many years. Unfortunately many cat owners have a god given right - or so they think - to let their animals wander all over the neighbourhood and deposit their stinking excrement in anyone's garden.

well well wildwood - I dont have a cat at present myself, but how is one supposed to stop them wandering around the neighbourhood and leaving their excrement behind, huh?! I take you are not a cat lover or of any of gods creatures!!!!

Well jules77, you have just proven my point. If it is your decision to keep a cat than it is up to you to ensure that your neighbours don't suffer from your pet's habits, or lack off. If you need information on how to stop your cat crapping all over the place than you should visit some of the genuine cat-lover's sites. Your arrogant attitude is the reason that there is so much discord over cats.
FYI, we have one cat, two dogs, over 200 birds and well over two dozen various small animals so don't come to me with that 'you are not a animal lover' sh!t.

Wildwood - Arrogant, me, I think not, I do feel your choice of language shows a lack of intelliengence and arrogant attitude, or did you intend to use it as a 'pun' and a slang word for excement!......have you read my answer correctly - sorry but I have no discord towards cats, and my answer does not suggest as such - but I dont know ONE cat in my neighbourhood who contains his excrement to his own garden They wouldnt enter our back garden unless they had a death wish..., but they wander around the front area, however, this doesnt bother me one bit, as I am a genuine animal lover, and believe we all have to live in harmony on this earth!!

Wildwood, as a genuine cat-lover and considerate neighbour I'd be v grateful if you'd post details of these websites that tell you how to stop your cat doing what comes naturally in other peoples' gardens.
