Do animals commit suicide?

i once had a pet chicken who hung himself..........i put it down to fowl play.

No they don't.

They may kill themselves accidentally - several small birds have done so in my garden over the last few weeks by flying into my - but healthy animals don't make a conscious decision to kill themselves.

oi sleepy i jiust heard that my dog is the best loved little big dog in the world and he loves everybody and everrybody loves him and he is so cool just like me but he is more cooler than me so will have to diss him of now homer have to play i tunes and knobby will dance with me . he is such a good hound that he will do that with no questions asked so will not put him into that tonight maybe manyane

My goldfish threw himself out of his tank - a difficult feat as it had a lid on it! The lid was open no more than a crack, but we got up in the morning to find Freddy lying expired on the floor - too late to hide it from the wee ones. We had explained the earlier fish's demise by saying that Boris had gone to visit his Mum, but we couldn't get away with it this time.

Hi I'm Tigger,

My owner is always feeding me and my sister Blue yukky food from pouches which makes us both feel suicidal. I wish she would give us some nice fresh chicken breast or a tin of tuna!!!

I'm off to look for some rope :-(
