My Netherland Dwarf is nearly 8 years old. He lives in an out house but unfortunately i live near a country park and a field mouse has befriended my rabbit. Have tried putting several layers of mesh on the hutch but he still gets in. I am concerned that he is soiling the hutch and sitting in the food bowl. Is it a health risk to my rabbit. If so, I will have to invest in a humane mouse catcher.
Ahhhh give the mouse a home, he/she will not hurt your rabbit, just watch he/she does not fetch the rest of the family lol.No Naomiasp it will not harm your rabbit and as the above mentioned it will eat very little.
If you are sure it is a field mouse - not a house mouse - it will not do any harm to your bunny. Dwarfy will probably appreciate the distraction from what must be a tedious life by yourself in a hutch.
Even 1/2" mesh will not stop any mouse. If you are determined to exclude it you must use 3/8" or even 1/4" mesh but that is fairly hard to get nowadays. Failing that you can use aluminium flywire.
