Dogs are gorgeous creature but very hard work. It doesn't stop at just buying one or rescuing one, you have to take account of vets fees and food etc, perhaps that may be why she is reluctant.
Don't try and convince her, you could always go to the local rescue kennels and volunteer, they welcome anyone to walk the dogs.

hi my mum didnt want a dog iv always wanted one,but i got one in the end,i always walked other peoples dogs worked in kennels just to be around them to show how much i loved them, have you thaught of adboting one for a year i.e guide dog puppy just to see how you get on,getting my dog was the best thing that ever happened and al the hard work of training her was amazing dog behavoiur is a good one if you evenly get one.in the dogs home you can have a trail run with the dog that is matched to you with the help of the kennel workers if every thing goes through first look into maybe with your mum,& it is always good for a dog to have its own space (left) i leave my bitch a couple of hours each day & she always happy to see me at the end of the day big walk after....michelle

Well I see dollypink has also asked about an address for an audition, so may she is not as young as we were probably all assuming.
If thats the case, dollypink will you be at home much longer, as you may be able to have a dog of your own if you have your own home, on the other hand, is it fair to get a dog and then maybe have to leave it at home if you move away?
Just shows how we can easily assume things and either upset the poster or each other!
