The maximum total dose of paracetamol in 24hrs is 4g (4000mg). Exceeding this amount regularly can lead to liver damage. It is safe to take aspirin or ibuprofen with or in between paracetamol doses but you must NOT take aspirin AND ibuprofen together. Aspirin and ibuprofen have the benefit of anti-inflammatory properties that paracetamol doesn't. However they all have analgesic (pain relief) and anti-pyretic (lowering of high body temperature) effects. It is important not to exceed the recommended daily dose of aspirin and ibuprofen too as this may lead to damage, and possible bleeding, of the stomach lining.
I hope that this information is useful for future reference to help you to choose your pain relief to suit your symptoms. Sorry I went off on one! It's just that I have seen so many people overdosing themselves on pain killers. It's all too easy when you are feeling terrible.
