This person used the above cleaner on her dogs (obtained from the vet) - the result was that it burned the inside of the ear (one dog particularly badly) down to the inner eardrum. She has had to have one dogs ears examined under anaesthetic and it is still very ill, the other dogs are being monitored. So far it has cost her into the hundreds of pounds in vet bills. This is the link so you can read it in more detail:

Hi Kita1 how awful for the dogs and owner, It makes you worry especially when its from the vets. Thanks for that info will pass it on to my doggy pals.g
oh dear, how awful. Well I can see that the owner called the company concerned who were not very helpful or empathetic. I read something the other day about where to report reactions to medication to with animals, but cant think where it was, perhaps Defra or the KC may be able to shed some light on it. I certainly wouldnt leave it without making everyone aware of the dangers of the product - and I would definitely want some compensation to pay for the vet bills - perhaps some of the weekly dog papers would print a letter from the owner.
me again!! - can you clarify the spelling as I cant find this product for sale anywhere on the online pet med sites, but have found an Oticlean?
Can you not claim against the vets insurance for this. They in turn would be able to claim against the manufacturers. Surely the vet should have to take some responsibility for this? He/she will presumably not prescribe this product again. He/she should also know the channels to go through to get this product investigated. The vet should be doing everything he can, if only to protect his reputation.
It also might be worth a call to Your Dog Magazine and the RSPCA.
I have used Oticyl for quiet some time on my spaniel. I have also purchased it from paws247.com and have had no problems. Paws247 gave great service and I use them for all sorts of pet supplies. I recently had a broken leg and getting about was not easy paws247 was a lifeline for me!! I cannot think why such a bad reaction was suffered, my spaniel not easiest in the world to treat but he has never reacted in any bad way to Oticyl
