Hello all, my cat (aged 7) has started peeing in her room, she is shut in the utility room at night and always has been, she has a ct flap and can get out and happily goes out AFTER peeing on the mat. Why would she suddenly start doing this - she isn't a kitten, is going outside and i don't think she's old enough to be losing control yet. Is she marking her territory or something? And why would she feel the need to do this suddenly? Ta

Could be that she's had a scare outside? a new cat nearby that she's had a set to with? Also very important to have her checked out by a vet as she could have cystitis or kidney probs, or diabetes...lots of illnesses could make a cat suddenly pee in a weird place. Short term I would suggest from experience, that you get a decent sized litter tray and fill it quite generously with naturalish litter. It doesn't have to be forever, but at least you might be able to stop her from doing it in other areas. Good luck.

Thanks pixie, yeah that's kind of what i thought - either she's had a scare outside or something has tried to get in through the cat flap. She seems perfectly content in either place though and doesn't seem reluctant to go out at all so i don't really get it. she is of a nervous disposition maybe something just gave her the heebie jeebies...twice...
