1 Answers
I have just bought a new house the garden is a blank canvas. It is not a big garden but I will be over looked by appartment windows and I would like to plant evergreen trees in the window eye lines for a little more privacy. The trees will be against a wooden fence I would also like to plant them now would this be a problem. Any ideas please

I think a row of Western Red Cedar (Thuja plicata) may suit your needs, it's less vigorous than Leylandii and should provide an exellent privacy screen and not fussy about soil type either.
It can reach about 16ft in about 10 years. The brighter variegated form (t p 'zebrina' is slightly slower growing and will reach approx 12ft after 10 years.
Planting at this time of year should be no problem for container grown plants but make sure there is no frost forcast when you plant them. Good Luck. Tbird+
