So - I've put up the Christmas Tree...

Anyone want to lay bets on how long it's going to last?? Monty & Cleo are already eyeing it up and have knocked a couple of decorations off - it's only been up since 4pm!

There is bound to be a cat-proof tree, maybe one that has an electric current running through it or one with water cascading down.
My money is on Monty being first to destroy it.

Maybe an 'upside down tree', the pointy bit being at the base, such as sold by John Lewis, is the answer!
A cat might not be able to climb up it. (Never mind cats, the youngest dogs around here find the hanging baubles an irresistible attraction . They box at them and, once they've detached a few, play soccer with them and then run off into the garden with them. We are still finding last year's baubles in the hedges!)

Kleiber, that's funny! How are you, other than worried?! They are mischiefs. Glittery, tinsel-covered mischiefs by now I'm sure!
All our presents are in the dining room, and our tree is a little 3 foot light-up one, tabletop, so Jack doesn't **** his leg on it like he tried with my friend's tree...Oh the shame! I would love a full-sized one, with room for pressies underneath, but if I have to choose, I choose Jack every time!

Diego hasn't been interested in ours this year, but he is five now and a lot more chilled. Jez and Raffy however have been climbing to the top then dive bombing out of the side on to the sofa and clambering back up again. Before I had even put the decorations on it yesterday they had climbed it, and it now resembles something that a three year old might have chucked together. I found more baubles on the floor than on the tree this morning. I give up!
Max joined the family on a new years eve six years ago and he didnt bother the tree that year, the next two years however he very gently removed all the decorations he could reach and "stored" them in his basket. No matter how many times we redecorated the tree, as soon as he had the chance everything would be moved back to his basket. We've now given up on trees now except for a small fibre optic one that sits on a shelf in the corner out of his reach
Just logged on & had a good chuckle reading all your posts. I'm glad I'm not the only one!! Well, within an hour, my two little devils had managed to get about 6 decorations off the tree and when I got up this morning, I found 2 silver baubles on the floor and three little glittery parcels (they were really nice, sort of lilac-y with silver thread - I've gone trendy this year & have got a white tree, all decorated in silver & lilac) gone missing. The silver threads were still on the tree and I found 2 of the parcels, one in K. Jnr's mate's shoe (they stayed the night 'cos of the Hatton fight) - the other one's still missing, probably under a sofa. As I write, Monty's trying to climb the tree - I dread going to work tomorrow, wondering what I'll come home to!! The older cats and the dogs are really good, don't bother about the tree, it's just Monty, Cleo and Gavin. Ah, well, Christmas isn't just for us humans..... K xx
Hi Kleiber & all - sorry I'm late!
I've enjoyed reading your posts & have not long finished putting our tree & dec's up too!
Milly our little kitty has enjoyed helping, by crawling inside the lametta bag & pawing it all over the floor for me! She's also had a little play with the garlands on the banisters! What fun!
P.S. We've always had cats & tie the trunk of the tree to the radiator in the bay, just in case....!
