my bitch looks like she is pregnant and may pup within the next 2 weeks if my dates r right prob is the mother to br is a bit thick god luv her and thinks she is 2 months old herself i am worried she may turn on them has anyone else experience this or will nature prevail ?

The majority of bitches will take to their puppies naturally, although some may wonder where they came from at first.
Make sure the puppies are out of their 'bags' when born and are breathing, rub them gently with a towel and they should start crying, at which point mum should start taking an interest and licking them clean.

I had a greyhound bitch who had to have a C section, she sadly killed several of her puppies the following day and we had to hand rear the rest, just putting them on to mum to feed and clean then taking them away, as she would growl at them once she had fed them.

Notify your vet when she is near her time in case you need to take her in if there are problems. I will try to find a couple of links to sites that will help with the details of whelping.

Thanks a mill great help lets hope nature wins over and alls o`k she is sweet just exceptionallly stupid and lives outside as inside stresses her have a large box for her inside a garage and filled with shavings so should b warm enough but think i will get a heat lamp too just to be sure thanks again.

No probs, good to have someone accept well meaning advice, not like some on here!

Make sure heat lamp is to one side of box, so mother can get away from heat if she wants to. Let us know how she gets on, and don't be afraid to ask anything else.

Just had a thought, don't think I would use shavings, as the puppies might get them in their mouths, and they will get stuck in the gooey mess that mum pushes out, can you get hold of shredded paper, or loads of newspaper?

can get bales of shredded paper right enough that would be better idea thanks again. will keep u updated cheers.
