hi, my great nan lives on her own and use a stick, the problem is a new family has moved by her and there dog keeps doing its buisiness on her front grass. she is not the sort to argue with the owners as she is too old and weak. is there any way or anything you can put down to stop the dog doing this. my nan lives alone and cannot bend down to pick it up, plus the grand children can never play on the grass.
any advice would be great.

Report it! There is no excuse for this, and the dog's owners are SO in the wrong.
Environmental Health and the Police should be notified. It is in no way your nan's responsibility to deal with the mess, and she shouldn't be searching for a way of dealing with it herself.

Please please get this reported, irresponsible owners need to be dealt with; they give us good owners a bad name! And they are also letting their dog trespass on your nan's grass-how rude and ignorant is that?!

i totally agree with you but she is 97 and dont want the hassle the neighbours are not the friendliest of people so she does not want to bring trouble to her door
I totally agree with leelapops. These type of people count on people like your nan to put up with their lack of responsibility.
Surely someone in your family must be of considerable size and have a 'friendly' word with these neighbours. If this fails take the steps as outlined above.

There are products on the market with varying efficiency which keep a dog away temporary. These usually have to be replaced after rain. Depending on the size of the lawn, it could become quite expensive.

I know your nan may not feel like complaining, but that is how these dense people get away with their ignorant attitude. Are there not other neighbours close by who can support your nan?

It is easy for us to sit here and type saying do this and that, but things like that can play viciously on the mind of the elderly and stress them out no end. Good luck.

i'm not taking the mickey here but my in-laws had this problem a few years ago. Anyway in the end she started posting it through their letterbox! It worked too!

Not saying your poor old nan or anyone should do this themselves but its just a thought x
My neighbours dog used to do his business in my garden, So one day i put the s*** in a plastic bag and put it on her doorstep. I told my other neighbour who was friends with this woman about what i did, and she told me that this woman put her hand in the bag thinking it was the Avon catalogue and picked up a handful of s***. Serves her right.
Phone the council and report it to the Environmental Health Officer. Tell them your nan is worried about the neighbours, and they will tell them it was the postman or binman who complained.
Agree with all of the above here ethanryan. Your nan could be hounded out of her home by the pressure and stress of people like this, if you can come together to take action it'll be better in the long run.

wildwood really hits the nail on the head by saying that these people are relying on your nan's gentle nature and, really, age, in order to get away with being antisocial. I have such a lot to say about people who don't pick up!

But this isn't the correct outlet for that...!

As lankeela says, Your nan won't be named, so don't think, or let her think, she'll "get into trouble".

Good luck.
