hi, some people will know that i breed cats and have done for about 8 years now. at the moment i have a litter of 5 7 week old kittens.
but have noticed that one kitten is going bald and i mean bald. the skin is warm to touch and a bit red but is not sore or cut. shes eating and playing like everyone else she s not even bothered by it. the others are fine. she has been treated for fleas and hasnt got any. i have never in my breeding or even when my mum bred ever come across this. im taking her to the vets on monday.
but its really puzzling me. any ideas

Could she be having an allergic reaction to the flea treatment?
If you are a breeder you should join the Yahoo cat-fanciers group . You might find it very useful as there are hundreds of breeders posting on this site asking and answering questions about cat health issues etc.
Oops.... Forgot to mention that there are vets on this site who give advice as well. By the way, which cats do you breed?
You have probably been to the vets by now, is it demodex/mange.

hi thanks for the replies. i breed maine *****. couldnt get a vets appointment today so got one for tomorrow. i thought it might be fish shes allergic to as when i fed them chicken flavoured food for one day it wasnt as hot or red. it wasnt the flea or deworming treatment as i defleaed them at 1 week old and she was fine then. its something shes gone near or eaten in the last week, as the hair loss was really sudden and very quick, she lost at least half her coat within 2 days, but also wierd thing is theres no trace of hair that has fallen out anywhere.

also it cant be mange or anything like that as the other kittens are 100% fine and also none of my other animals have it

just come back from the vets, and the vets puzzled he says its a allergy to something. hes put her on steriods for a week, as the skin is starting to dry. so still none the wiser
