cat having second kittenhood
5 Answers
since we got our laptop, my 12+ year old cat seems to be having a new kittenhood. he goes absolutely bonkers for the cables, in fact he is sitting under the coffee table right now just waiting for one to twitch so he can kill it! he is specially mad for the internet cable, the blue one. as soon as you unzip the laptop hes there, waiting. he does seem to go specailly mad for this blue one. does it look different to him because its blue, or do you reckon its got different vibes (so to speak) that he can sense, cos its a slightly different cable? what d'ya reckon?

We have recently had a new bathroom installed with new tiles. when we switch the light on and leave the door open, the hanging light switch is reflected in the floor - when this moves/swings she goes MAD for the shadow! pouncing and chasing it! she even sits on the bathroom rug, in anticipation of anyone switching on the light, and purrs LOUDLY when entering the bathroom lol :D
about the cables- cats see in black and white so it might be a slightly different shade of grey? or it might be the shape of it....who knows! cats are funny :D

I dont know why he seems to go for the blue cable, but it 's good to hear that he is so full of beans at 12 years old. I had a fifteen year old who used to chase his tail and run so fast sometimes he would trip himself up. I love older cats. I think we tend to forget to provide enough stimilus for older cats. I think they are reacting to something new and interesting being brought into their environment. We had a new laminate floor put down in the kitchen last week. My three were so excited about it. They were skiddding all over it for days. The novelty has worn off now though. I cant wait for the summer. they wont go in the garden in winter, and they get so bored.
I love to see my cats chasing things around Mine are 18 & 11 and they both have crazy turns. Do yours go especially silly if it's very windy or frosty? Mine chase each other all over the garden if the weather is like that then charge in through the cat flap, skid all over the kitchen and charge out again. I tell the 18 year old she is too old for that but she takes no notice!
ooh no, monsta doesnt like the wind!! not sure about the frosty connection, but perhaps that is because they dont like to go out in the cold / wet / wind so they get a bit stir crazy inside. monsta is very fond of nagging to go out and when i get up and open the door for him, he ambles to the bottom of the garden, takes a drink from the water bowl there, jumps on to the top of the fence, wobbles back alont the top of the fence towards the house and sits there waiting where he knows i can see him and let him back in... i know they all do it, dontcha just love em!
I've been thinking the same thing about Sam for the last 2 or 3 weeks. He's always enjoyed chasing his toy mice and skidding across the floorboards after them but recently he's being doing loads more than usual. He's been in such a playful mood and he's taken to hitting them through the banisters so they fall down to the ground floor. He then races downstairs picks them up in his mouth and carries them back upstairs, only to do it again a few minutes later! He also often brings them to me to throw for him as well (I think he might have been a dog in a previous life!).
