cat brings me presents

hi there, we have a cat who every night brings this fluffly drinks coaster to us as we go to sleep. the cat never plays with this coaster in the day and is usually never interested in it at all but every night brings it to us?
is this some kind of present for the cat owners?

would appreciate any views?

I'm not sure what it is about - probably it is a present. I had a cat who had this furry ball which she never played with but every evening she would pick it up, carry it upstairs and sit there miaowing at it. She didn't do this with anything else and I still don't know why she did it but they do have some really strange habits!

Our little cat, who unfortunately we had to have put down last week, used to be the same with a tatty old black shoe lace. She too would carry it about and then sit and miaow at it. We decided she thought it was her baby.

Maybe it is just trying to tell you that it would love a cup of horlicks before bedtime!!!

Seriously though, it probably is bringing you a present. One of my cats comes and sits beside me on the sofa every morning when I have my first cuppa, and brings me a chewed up old pigeon feather that she's had for years. If I ignore her, she miaows and puts it in my lap - bless her!

yes they have an instinct to catch food and then bring it back for their little ones I think they continue this instinct with what they can find.
