Poorly cat

My cat (18 months) is unwell today. This morning she came down the stairs slowly and didn't want to go outside. When I picked her up she cried as she thought I was putting her out. When I rang home at lunchtime hubby said she was lying on our bed and hissed at him when he opened the door for her to go out.

When I looked in the garden there was a lot of fur on the patio, so I assume she was fighting with another cat yesterday. I don't know whether she was hurt or just scared to go out. She is still eating, but not much - she also used her litter tray for the first time in weeks - I leave it just in case but she usually goes outside.

Has anyone had an experience like this?

Thanks M

I did actually with a stray that adopted us many years ago, he wouldnt go outside, and seemed off colour, although still eating, and a few days after I noticed a strange smell and he had an abscess, which I believe was from a bite that had got infected. He had antibiotics and was fine, and back to being the naighbourhood 'tiger' once again.

I definitely think she needs to go to the vets, I think it takes a lot for a cat to show it is off colour as they are so resilient.

Good luck
I agree with jules...cats tend to 'soldier on'.....and do not usually show their 'moods' unless they feel provoked or threatened. If she starts to hide...then I would be very worried. Please do get her to the vet ASAP.

Tori jumped on me this morning at 630 wanting to be outside - she is fine. Think she just had an off day. I hope it doesn't happen again cos it scared me. She isn't going far outside so I think she must have been beaten up - theres a Bengal keeps coming round so maybe it had a go?

Glad to hear your cat is better. It seems as though she may have been in a scrap so it would be an idea to watch her for a few days. If she does have an infected wound somewhere it can take a few days to become apparent.
That's good to know, fathead -lol-love that name!!......be careful of the Bengal-I think they can be big bullies.
so pleased she is feeling better today arnt they a worry worse then kids
my mum has a stray that comes round and camps out in the porch, the other day he turned up with an injured paw (hes a tom and often turns up with many a scratch wound) the paw is healing now but he keeps showing us sore paw to get some tlc and grub.
