My God! What has happened to this site?!

Not meaning to be rude but I come on here either a lot or occasionally, personal circumstances dictating whether I have the time etc. I used to come on her a couple of years ago, mostly on the family page telling my personal situation and receiving pretty much advice and support - other's points of view helping me in my own response to things that were serious in my life. Over the months/years i have logged on and rarely posted, (but when I have) valuing the people that took time to answer me and given me , for the most, kind words and encouragement in one form or another.
Recently, the last few months, I have read posts that have done nothing but criticise those who have posted and villified them, I have no idea what the heck is going on in the chatterbank but all I see is that this is seeming to me to become like all the other crappy chatsites and not being what made it so great. I am not judging anyone, I am just saying what I see after a while being away. does anyone else think the same?
Sometimes I just don't bother posting because I think I will just be judged anyway...

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Yes, I've noticed quite a few vindictive types on here posting very nasty things to people who post genuine answers, in hope of receiving genuine advice to their queries.
There also seem to be losts of juvenille adults here, posting spiteful rumours about other site members. It would be nice for the site to revert back to what it is supposed to be, a sensible place where people can obtain advice from others.

I have to admit that I am sometimes loathe to post a question because I think I am going to get grief ie treated as if I am stupid, that the question has been answered before/elsewhere, or just rude or offensive answers for no reason etc.
It is a real shame because my overall experience of this site is that people are generally friendly and extremely helpful. From looking at many many other threads, I think that the moderation/management of the site is not as good as it could be. There are many ABers who are very very offensive but seem to be allowed to do it.
It is also a bit of a worry to me about how offensive and aggressive some people are and how they choose to use this type of forum to vent their anger/frustrations. I suspect that the people who are most offensive on this site do not have much control in their real lives.

Lol - you're sound, Pasta. Any naughty comment I make to you, is because i know you'll just give it back, and it's all meant in fun - xx.
You're right Velvetee. Adults with an infantile mind - or worse. I wouldn't like to see CB shut down, because there are times when it's just nice and friendly, but ALL chat sites draw in the unpleasant ones. It's human nature and the law of averages, that out of hundreds of people who might contribute, you're bound to get a few strange ones!

Nothing has happened to this site, except the intitial introduction of Chatterbank. I joined just after CB was started and it's always been the same, most other topics have run very smoothly. But CB has always been this way, it just goes in cycles.
Sometimes there is peace and harmony for weeks or months, then it all goes pear shaped when certain idiots find the site. They eventually get sick and move on, leaving peace for a while.
It's the CB cycle, or as Elton John so eloquently put it...."The circle of strife"

Quite honestly, I've never had anyone say anything out-and-out horrible to me. One or two've made little jibes, but it's water off a duck's back, because i know that I could have the last laugh if i wanted to.
I agree with pasta - even the ones who're "not alright" - CAN be, and I have no argument with anyone on here. I just don't like unfairness and bullying, but don't think it stops with CB. I've seen stuff elsewhere as well, so short of closing the entire thing, what can you do? No one's forced to read the nasty posts and replies - which leaves me in a pretty good position, because I can't be @rsed to trawl back through long-winded arguments, so i miss much of it.

Hey everyone, so... i am not alone! I am not just talking about chatterbank, talking about answerbank in general, I have seen some posts over the last year that are obviously from young girls, however naive, who have genuinely been asking for help in whatever form - but I have seen them ripped to pieces! Bez is right, it has got to the point where people are starting to think twice about what they say and how they are going to be received and this whole place did NOT used to be like that. What a b****y shame is all I can say. Forget this whole chatterbank thing, the whole of AB has changed. i think its just sad that this has happened. I don't know why? Maybe people are more comfortable saying whate the heck they think... but that doesn't make sense! arghhh.
Hi Schlomo,
this happened almpst as soon as they brought CB back, which i think is good, because it stopped them using and ruining B&S, I very rarely come on this topic now.
Some on here are purely vindictive, and others post and answer the most inane and sexually orientated things, not all, but enough to keep me away most of the time.
