To the person whose 2 ducks were deliberately run over .....

I tried to answer your post earlier tonight, but had a problem with my keyboard and lost everything I had typed.
I would just like to say that to some people the death of their pets means as much to them as a human death. My ex-boyfriend was a strapping rugby player, well over 6 foot tall. When his dog died he sobbed for a long time, he was inconsolable. And it took him a very long time to get over it.
A friend of mine had to have her pet put to sleep, must have been 10 years or more ago, but even now, she cannot talk about him, she gets too choked up.
Over the years I have lost many budgies, these little creatures don't have a very long lifespan. But the pain of losing them never gets any easier.
I am sure that in a lot of cases people will argue "it's only an animal" but I, for one, am proud to say that my pets mean as much to me as the rest of my family. And I don't mean any disrespect to any humans. But I bet if people were brave enough to admit it, many would agree that losing their beloved pet hurt as much as losing one of the family.
So to have someone deliberately kill your pets is absolutely despicable. I am a placid person who hates violence of any kind, but for scum that would do that sort of thing - I'd willing flick the switch on the electric chair!

We have quite a few, and they're treated with love and respect the same as members of the family.
Whenever one dies, it's a very sad occasion, and I keep stacks of photos of pets we once had, and very warm memories of all of them. It's horrible to lose one.

As Icey says,I wouldnt go as far as the chair, but,I'd certainly wish them a bad time for the rest of their life. I agree with you chappie though, our pets are much more than just pets. The unconditional love they give and the "characters" they are,are each unreplacable. The death of every one of my pets has been like losing the closest family member or friend.Anybody who deliberately mistreats an animal is the worst scum.
Many thanks for replies. The electric chair is harsh but it might be just the deterrent needed to make the scum who do it think twice. Every year animal cruelty case numbers seem to soar and I think this is disgusting.
As you've probably guessed, I feel very strongly about animal cruelty - I suppose it is because animals are totally at the mercy of humans. They can't run away or ask for help.
Hi Hitler,
My comment about my six-foot something boyfriend sobbing over his pet, was made to point out that pets tug at the heart strings of all kinds - weak and strong, big and small alike. It is impossible for you to put this in context with the original post if you didn't see it.
But perhaps you did see the original post?
Unfortunately I think it was pulled by the AB editor due to the poster using some colourful language. They were clearly very distressed about what had happened to their pets. Some of the ABers who replied seemed to be more outraged with their use of bad language on this site, rather than the fact that this despicable act had been committed.
Perhaps I will get a response telling me I misinterpreted that. It is just how it looked to me.
PS: Kitesurfing in itself does not make you a girl. But if you tell me you make your kites out of your old unwanted dresses and use your pretty hair ribbons for kite strings, I'll get suspicious!
Thanks again for replies.

Hi there, it was me who posted about my pets last night,
I have cooled down, at least somewhat now, but I don't regret using my colourful language.
I don't really understand what they expected me to say... 'Oh dear, some people just ran over my mums beloved pets. What cheeky little monkeys they are.'?
I had to get up early this morning as I couldn't sleep for the anger I was feeling of how dare people had done this to my family.
Sighhh, I'm feeling a little better now, and my mums at work. I think shes okay.
Thanks for everyone's kind words, and chappie I completely agree with the electric chair.

chocolatechip - believe it or not I thought of you a lot since last night. I'm just flabbergasted at the sheer callousness and cruelty you were exposed to. Cruelty to animals may not register with some people, but I would indeed flick the switch if chappie has thought better of it. Your question last night - would it have been different if there were kids on the road - as also thought provoking.
Hi Choc,
Thank you for posting. I was so sorry to learn about what happened to the ducks. It made me sick to my stomach to read it, and in those circumstances, I completely understand where you were coming from with the colourful language.
Am I right in thinking that AB removed the post because of the language? I tried to find it for ages and couldn't. I was hoping that they hadn't removed it because I felt that this would upset you even further, and you can do without that at a time like this.
I will never, ever understand the evil way of some folk. I was once driving home, there was a chicken on the road, on the other side to me. Some ******* deliberately ran right over it. They could have easily stopped. It was sickening. I don't agree with corporal punishment, but in these cases I'd make an exception!

Thanks whickerman for your kind words.
And yes chappie, I think it was for the colourful language. I can't think why else it would've been deleted.
It was okay, once it was deleted I just came off the computer so...
Theanswerbank for tell you why your thread has been deleted. I think that would be a good idea.

My cat Snoopy was put down on my birthday in 2000. He had kidney failure. I was devastated and cried for ages over him. I had to take a week off work because of it as well.
I think animals are like babies and small children. They are dependant on you for food, love and a roof over their head and as you are their carer its so hard to let go.
I have relatives who don't care about animals and don't understand how much of a loss it is to lose a pet. When I lost Snoopy one of my relatives said "at least you won't have any fur flying around the house anymore"!!!

Im exactly the same when it comes to animals being hurt, having to be put to sleep or even just being ill, i get so upset it breaks my heart, but i keep having them, my home seems so empty without an animal in it, no matter what animal it is i just need them, but i can handle losing them, i had 2 wonderful boy cats, now sadly no longer here, but we had awful neighbours, and while we were away, the friendly one must have gone over for a stroke and ended up being kicked in the chest and mouth, it broke his jaw damaged his chest and he never really recovered and so eventually he was so ill from the shock he was pooing out of his mouth, which then resulted to him being put tosleep, and his brother lasted 1.5 yrs after and i think he just gave up and didnt eat or do anything and his organs gave up and he had to be put to sleep, so many sick bas***** out there. xx
tigger,
I know what you mean about relatives who don't care or understand how you feel about the loss of your pet. Your post reminded me of something a relative once said. I used to have several birds (I used to take in rescue birds) and once when a budgie died, they said "never mind, when they have all gone, at least you'll have more time to concentrate on your housework".
Words failed me (and that doesn't happen very often).
tamirra,
That's awful. It is disgusting that these sick ******** can do these things and get away with it. Some will think it harsh that I would put them in the electric chair. Sometimes I think that even the electric chair is too good for them - they should be made to suffer a similar fate to what they made the poor creature suffer. And that is out of character for me - I absolutely hate violence, except in the case of animal cruelty.
Thank god there are plenty of good folk around who cherish their pets.
Many thanks for replies.
