Help !!!

My daughter is staying with us between flats.

She went thro to Perth yesterday -we went out at about 6 and came back at 9 ish.

I got up this morning and one of her cats is missing -I checked on them before I went out but this morning just one here

They are house cats.

Spent the last 3hrs looking frantically -he is timid so dont think he would have bolted out the door when we came back.H is away out again and I cant stop crying at the thought of what she is gonna be like when she comes home.

I dont know what to do -if they are house cats do you think that he will come back cos he is frightened outside?H ehas been here a week so has the homing instinct I should imagine.O eff -this is a nightmare.

BTW -only on here to try and keep my mind off it cos I am totally useless ATM

Hey Dris, please dont panic, im almost certain the cat will come back, ya know it probably isnt even out, just hiding,, you'd be amazed at where they can curl up without you knowing. He will come out when he's ready.

Cats are a proper pain in the ass for this sort of thing. I looked after a mates cat and never saw it for the whole bloody week! God only knows where it was but the day before she was due home, it appeared!
daym this sounds trickey dris. have you checked the toilet, washing machine, cupboards etc
i am going out kiting now but wil keep my balls crossed for you
gravy, you can do that???? Im impressed ;-)

Thanks both -H is absolutely positive that he must be in the house -but we have searched everwhere-Youre right Jules our own car went missing for 3 days and he was just curled up and hibernating on a shelf under R's computer desk.

Thanks Gravy -want me to keep your balls crossed for ya and then you can give me a pearl necklace?

Its tricky cos J will go effing crazy cos they are her bairns -i'm currently cacking myself.

I dont know whether to just act dumb when she comes in or to come clean -yikes !!!
My MIL's neighbours have house cats and they got spooked once by a noise and went behind the fridge freezer and didn't come out for hours, so my guess is it is just hiding somewhere as you say he is timid.
I can only echo what julie has said.....the cat may very well be in the house somewhere and well hidden.(and laughing at the silly human who is frantically calling his/her name). Could she be trapped somewhere? Listen very closely for her meow.....sometimes they will not call for help unless it is quite silent. I do hope you find her-I know how you are feeling. xx
start by checking all the rooms one by one, have you a loft that he could have got up in , a shed , a garage,a wardrobe, best of luck

check airing cupboard, under beds, check mot shut in a room or kitchen cupboard.

If they are a small cat then check under all units and behind radiators under under bed linen.

these are a few places mine have ended up

O Jules and Pasta thanks.

Pasta -we thought perhaps he had gone into the loft so H did a recce there but nothing -well something but different thread different time (was funny tho-wouldnt have been if I had read it in 2002 tho-I have never ventured into the loft before so the kids used it for entertaining lets say)

I feel calmer now - just the calm before the storm basically.

He doesnt miaow (I know -weird but he doesnt) so i'm hoping he will come out when he hears J shouting on him -he's frightened of us -its all alien to him where as the older cat is strutting her stuff and has her paws right under the table.

O jings !!!!
Hi Dris - Have you tried tempting it out with something tasty smelling? xxx
Question Author
O everyone -I am going to have another reccy cos I didnt even think of the obscure places you have suggested.

I have rattled the box and opened food -most of the things that would get him interested.

H is still convinced he wouldnt have gone outside -even when we opened the door last night to come in -he would have bolted up the stairs -that would be a safer haven for him than outside.

I'll keep you all posted x
Oh dear...if he is frightened of you both, then all the more reason for him to hide....thenn he willwait til your daughter comes home xx
good idea by skyep, open a tin of tuna!
Dris - If there were'nt any windows open & you're pretty sure it did'nt get out, then it must still be in the house somewhere! Lock the older cat away in a safe room & dot a fixed amount of dry treats around. Go out for a bit & check when you return if any of it is eaten. At least you will have peace of mind it's still in the house! xxx
What a worry for you Dris , but , as the others have said , I suspect he is still in the house. If he is timid it's unlikely he will have ventured out of a door or window . ((( hug )))
Any luck Dris? xxx
Question Author
Sorry - no luck.
H has been out again !!

I am bloody shattered -dont know why -think I am just stressed at the thought of her coming home !Phoned mum and she is with H -plead ignorance -hate lying to her but what can I do -we didnt let the bleeder out and if he skinned out when we came in last night then I swear i didnt see a bloody thing.

I am serioisly on tenterhooks here cos I know what I would be like if anything happened to my pet.

Thanks all -I will keep you posted and if I dont post again then you'll know it was all my fault !!
well, have you found the cat yet? One of our cats once went into the cavity wall space and eventually turned up in the loft days later, covered in dust and muck
