Baby coots
1 Answers
Hello all. I was walking in the park yesterday, when we came across a coot family with 3 babies. They are so funny; they have long coot legs, but little fluffy baby bodies!
Anyway, I found it amazing that they were so brave, and that their parents were so laidback. Whereas the geese are very protective of their infants, and to an extent the ducks are too, these 3 babies each came very close to our 2 dogs and ourselves, and were left to it. Jack, our dog, was a VGB (Very Good Boy!), and didn't even move towards them.
We also saw a big family of baby ducks, and a couple of older baby ducks too. I love summer!
Thought you A & N bunch might like to know.

I too love this season - so much going on.
Pup has yet to encounter this sort of thing - the only experience he has had is in the garden when robins were nesting and the babies were around. He had a wee look and sniff around and the robin parents dive bombed him!!! With tail between legs he shot back inside!! Now he has respect for bird life!!!
He would never hurt anything but is just so nosy!!!! :o) xxx
