I have a bedlington terrier who was a rescue dog, he is very affectionate....out of curiosity I wondered if anyone knows why he does this:- If I sit on a chair that he can get underneath he always does? and he always gets under my bed and likes to sleep underneath me for some reason? I have even tried moving to the other side of the bed and he moves over to that side...strange! Does anyone know why he does this?

Yes they are lovely, the most affectionate dog ive ever come across, my one was a mess when I got him, as said before he was a rescue dog, his coat was matted so bad it was pulling on his skin, he was covered in ticks and stunk...glad to say, not like that now, I dont know how anyone could have left him in such a sorry state, theres not one horrible thing about him and he is so loyal, he even smiles at me when I come home!...some wicked people out there!!!
Aww Chick,i'm so glad to hear your lovely dog has a proper loving home now:-) Animals have all these wee quirks we will never understand, but,it just makes them more lovable! Whats his name btw?
Aaaah h sounds as lovel as my Pickles- she def 'smiles'. She is special beyond words.

Hi unhappychic .My sister has one of those cute little characters , what a bundle of mischievous fun he is , and yes , so very affectionate , he follows my sister around , and sleeps on the sofa next to her or her husband and on the bottom of their bed . Pity they live so far away . x
I have got a flat coated retriever who is 4-she isnt a rescue dog and have had her since she was a puppy-she does exactly the same and if she cant get under the chair she lies right up against the chair between the chair and my legs.I have been told it makes them feel secure and yes they just want to be with you all the time and show you affection. They ask for nothing back apart from to be loved.Mine sulks when i am getting ready to got out they are so clever but what a greeting when you get back if its a couple of hours or just ten mins. They are truly mans best friend.I am not a religious person but i have a lovely poem someonle gave me when i got my dog.I will post it some time.
I have a Border Collie (rescued) and she does it, too. As she is very nervous I have always put it down to the need to feel secure.
