As someone who is allergic to wasp stings I can say I am relieved there don't seem to be many about but sadly I remember a past post a few years ago saying that August is wasp season! So get ready!!!
wingnut u are probably right!but i have seen them really early depending on the weather and its been quite warm here but no wasps and i have seen them in november thats when they are dangerous must be dying off!
I can vouch to seeing them in november lol I got stung on the ear by one whilst watching fireworks and ended up going to hosp cos all my ear, neck and throat swelled up! Only just managed to get my earrings out in time before my ear swelled up around them.
There seemed to be quite a few around (massive ones) in April but haven't seen any in quite a while. They must be saving themselves for August! Arghhh!
The large `Wasps` seen early in the year are the `Queens` busy looking for a place to start a colony that will grow and emerge to frighten the life out of you in August when the plums are ripe on the trees and through October onwards they can become aggresive as the weather gets colder, and they soon die in a cold November. Please don`t kill any Bees by mistake as our existence depends on them, so treat them like little Gods. Seriously.
We have loads of bees in and out of our garden at the moment! I would never kill a bee by mistake as I don't even kill the wasps lol They get shoo'ed out of the window but thats only if they have managed to get past the wooden door curtain and me (I sense them before they are seen lol) first!
Thinking about it I never get bee's in the house only ever wasps & flys, they obviously have nothing better to do :o)
