My cat has started sleeping on my chest only at night. I have sleep apnea and having a problem wearing my mask--that's when my cat started sleeping on my chest. Anyone know if there's a connection? Also, my cat is very smart--I have conversations with him and he understands--of course, my kids think I'm nuts.

i wouldnt say nuts!!! cats are so clever its unreal, my hubby had a male moggie when we met and the damn thing hated me but when i was pregnant with our daughter he barely left me alone sleeping on my bump and ide wake up in the morning to him curled round my belly paws round it aswell, but when i was pregnant with our son he didnt want to know me, it was like he couldnt handle the male hormones and knew it was a boy. aslo when daughter was born he just wanted to curl up beside her but didnt bother with our son when he was born, they can tell when things arnt as they should be and it shows in their behaviour.
No commend on the 'nuts' reference but it looks like you're not alone.

Cats sleep on humans who they are comfortable with because it is warm, no other reason. That's why you should never let a cat have access to a sleeping baby.

If you go to a sleep clinic tell them about the trouble with your mask. There are different types and you may even qualify to have one made to suit your face, or go to a totally different cpap machine.
