Aha! this is one I know for once! As I recall, baby goldfish/pond fish usually happen around May (but that's just my experience) You'll know something's going on in the pond because there's loads of splashing and the fish seem to be bashing themselves on the side of the pond...but that's the way they get the eggs out. You can just about see the eggs amongst the plants, they are really tiny tho & you can feel them if you gently feel the plants...a bit like little hard bobbles. The newly hatched babies look like little tiny pins & you might see them around the edge of the pond. I don't think that many can make it, but if they do you'll probably only spot them the next spring when they get a bit of colour & size.
If your fish is looking fat, it could be eggbound, constipated or be suffering from a condition called dropsy (in which the scales stand proud like a fircone).
well they get up on a table, stick their little legs in the air, the nurse saye"..." oh ****** this I'm going
