Humping dog
6 Answers
My rottweiller is constantly humping my scatter cushions on the sofa. I don't want to get him 'done' but can't cope with him doing it anymore. How can I stop it? He is nearly 3 now, will he grow out of it?

You can teach him not to do it, the same way you would teach him not to do anything else...tell him not to, distract him, call him to you and praise when he comes. It might also help to temporarily remove the scatter cushions and wash or dry clean the covers. I do speak from experience, our late beloved entire male weimaraner used to do this and we taught him not to by the methods I have described
The dog I had when I was growing up humped anything and everything, and he was "done" when he was a very little puppy. We didn't know anything about training, so we didn't train him not to do it. Consequently he humped till the day he died. Quite embarrassing - he had a thing for a particular friend of mine. Anyway, I don't think your dog will grow out of it, and you should try the training methods Woofgang mentioned.
