Actually Doc Spock, I must speak in defence of Psychology which is a truly fascinating and insightful subject to study and I am not sure that I share your sentiment that 'everyone over the age of 50 is an expert' or that it is a 'Mickey Mouse' qualification. I dare say that those who hold respectable careers in Forensic, clinical, occupational, Educational Psychology etc would beg to differ. Oh and yes, I can spell the word but it is not a pre-requisite for being accepted onto that study path :-)

Where humans are concerned, there ARE no right or wrong answers but extensive research can highlight consistent trends which can be deemed to be either statistically significant/insignificant - which of course can be critically analysed and refuted at a later date but the same can be said for any area of research, even in Medicine, which I am hazarding a guess you would classify as a 'proper' science but essentially, this is what fascinates me so much about Psychology, the different perspectives which compliment or conflict. It is a useful tool in constructing criminal profiles for the Police who rely on these methods for profiling and even for recruitment to monitor the types of people who are applying to work with sensitive material and deal with sensitive issues. Psychology is applied to many areas of everyday life including work based questionnaires and assessments but I guess that we will just have to agree to disagree on this one
