Are welsh sheepdogs a breed recognised in crufts, or the AKC? If not why?

The kennel club recognise border collies, and so I think do the AKC is this what you mean
Welsh collies or Welsh shepherd dogs are not the same as borders, though many border collies are used in Wales. Here's some info: http://www.glassportal.com/herding/welsh.htm. Aparently unlike many borders they will work cattle. Don't know if they are recognised "officially", but they are certainly a proper breed. I want one! And thank you amberlynn for asking this question, as it's made me find out how to contact the breed association (no more running across bumpy fields after the cattle -- heaven!).
I don't think they are, much to the betterment of the breed imo. I'd venture to suggest the amazing dogs you see in agility competitions are more welsh sheepdog than border collie a lot of the time.
